What clients ask before we start — versions, working remotely, inherited code and how a project gets priced.
Which Odoo versions do you work with?
Odoo 16 through 20, both Community and Enterprise. Most of my recent work is on 17 and 18, and I handle version upgrades between them — including migrating custom modules that were written against an older API.
Do you work with clients outside India?
Yes. I am based in Surat, Gujarat and work remotely worldwide. I overlap comfortably with European mornings and Gulf business hours; for US clients I keep a fixed window each day for calls.
Can you take over a module someone else wrote?
That is a large part of what I do. I start by reading the existing model and access rules before changing anything, so the fix does not quietly break a workflow that depended on the old behaviour.
Do you do the frontend as well as the backend?
Both. Python and the Odoo ORM on the server side, OWL for the interface — client actions, custom widgets and dashboards. Not needing a second developer for the frontend is usually what makes a small project viable.
What do you need from me to start?
A description of the process as it works today, access to a copy of the database (or a demo instance), and the name of the person who will sign off that it works. That is normally enough for me to come back with a scope.
How do you charge?
It depends on the shape of the work — a defined module suits a fixed price, ongoing support suits a monthly arrangement. Send me the brief and I will tell you which one I think fits and why.
What happens after the work is delivered?
The module ships with a README and inline documentation so another developer can pick it up. I also keep a support window open after go-live for anything that only surfaces once real users are on it.
